BCCI Rejects PCB’s Hybrid Model for ICC Champions Trophy 2025

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has turned down a proposal from the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) regarding the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The PCB had suggested a hybrid model for the tournament, which would have allowed Pakistan to play all its matches outside India, specifically in Dubai. Under this plan, India’s matches would also be played in Dubai to maintain neutrality.

The PCB’s proposal was part of a larger arrangement. In exchange for adopting the hybrid model for the Champions Trophy, Pakistan also suggested that it would not play its matches in India during the 2026 T20 World Cup. However, the BCCI has firmly rejected this idea, stating that there are no security concerns about hosting the Champions Trophy in India.

Despite the rejection, the PCB is continuing to push for the hybrid model in upcoming ICC tournaments and is now demanding formal security guarantees from the BCCI. This ongoing disagreement has created uncertainty about the future of the Champions Trophy and raised questions about the participation of both teams in upcoming ICC events. It remains to be seen how the ICC will address this conflict and whether a compromise can be reached to ensure smooth organization of the tournament.
