Broad gains fuel rally in Sri Lankan shares

Sri Lankan shares closed higher for the fifth straight session on Tuesday, supported by gains in all sectors except utilities.

The CSE All Share index settled up 1.42% at 22,445.89.

Bogala Graphite Lanka and Raigam Wayamba Salterns were the top two percentage gainers on the CSE All Share, rising 22.34% and 15.09%, respectively.

Trading volume on the CSE All Share index fell to 101.4 million shares from 108.4 million in the previous session.

The equity market’s turnover dropped to 3.43 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($11.1 million) from 3.71 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.

Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 96.5 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 3.37 billion rupees, the data showed.
