Call to activate Pak–Philippines JBC to strengthen trade ties

KARACHI: President of Pakistan Business Forum (Sindh Region), Malik Khuda Bakhsh, has called for activating the Pakistan–Philippines Joint Business Council to strengthen bilateral trade and investment ties.

He appreciated the proposal by Pakistan and Philippines to further deepen economic cooperation and promote investment through a Memorandum of Understanding between the respective investment boards and the establishment of a joint working group on investment.

Malik Khuda Bakhsh emphasized that there is a pressing need to enhance trade and investment cooperation with all friendly business nations around the world.

He noted that there is significant potential to expand collaboration between Pakistan and the Philippines. He also highlighted the importance of organizing trade exhibitions and dedicated business forums between the two countries, stating that the Pakistan Business Forum is ready to play its role in this regard.

He further stressed the need to activate the Pakistan–Philippines Joint Business Council so that the business communities of both countries can effectively contribute to strengthening economic relations.

Malik Khuda Bakhsh also called for the early implementation of the proposed Preferential Trade Agreement (PTA) between the two countries.

He underlined the importance of improving cooperation in the banking and taxation sectors and urged the Philippines to simplify the visa process for Pakistani tourists and businessmen.
