Abu Dhabi Family, Civil and Administrative Cases Court obligated a young man to pay compensation of Dhs80,000 to 4 people who he insulted and defamed using the information network through a social media platform.
The 4 people reportedly filed a lawsuit against a person in which they asked to obligate him to pay them Dhs550,000 in compensation for the moral damage they incurred as a result of the appellee’s insulting them through social media, especially since he had followers from all over the world.
They plaintiffs also demanded that he be obligated to pay the fees and expenses of the lawsuit and the lawyer’s fees.
The court explained that there was a final ruling in absentia issued against the appellee which convicted him of the charge of insulting the victims, noting that the appellee’s mistake was proved and had caused the plaintiffs moral damage. Accordingly, the court obligated him to pay Dhs80,000 in compensation for the damages sustained.
