Customs Enforcement Quetta with other Law Enforcement Agencies seized large consignments of electronic items worth Rs151 million.

The electronic items include 2,520 foreign origin tablets, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) said in a press release today.

An FIR has also been lodged against the culprits.

“The operations were carried out on the basis of credible intelligence and reflects the continued commitment of Customs Enforcement Quetta to curb smuggling and protect the national economy.”

The timely support and coordination of Law Enforcement Agencies of Balochistan played a vital role in the successful execution of the operation, added the press release.

“Customs Enforcement Quetta reiterates its resolve to continue strict enforcement actions against smuggling and illegal trade in close coordination with law enforcement agencies.

These relentless successes of Customs Enforcement formations in recent months are attributable to FBR’s functional restructuring and introduction of single enforcement command as an integral part of the current government’s over-arching governance reforms forcussed on better service delivery,” the FBR said.

In January, Pakistan Customs revealed a historic revenue collection of Rs2.31 trillion, marking a significant 20 percent increase compared to the previous fiscal year.

The customs digital presentation revealed a sharp up tick in efficiency and enforcement across all sectors. A total of Rs2.31 trillion was collected, with overall Customs Duty and Taxes surging by 48 percent.

On the enforcement front, Pakistan Customs seized smuggled goods worth Rs41 billion this year, while the department successfully handled 3.85 million containers.
