زندہ رہنا ہے تو حالات سے ڈرنا کیسا

Dawn journalist Khawar Hussain was found dead in Sanghar under mysterious circumstances. Police recovered a pistol from his hand, probing into suicide or murder. Sindh CM Murad Ali Shah orders high-level investigation.

SANGHAR, Pakistan — A senior journalist associated with DawnNews, Khawar Hussain, was found dead in his car on Hyderabad Road in Sanghar under mysterious circumstances late Saturday night, police said.

Sanghar SSP Abid Ali Baloch told Dawn that police rushed to the scene after receiving information about a body in a car. Hussain was found in the driver’s seat with a gunshot wound to the head. A pistol was discovered in his hand.

The body was shifted to a hospital for autopsy, while forensic teams collected evidence from the site. “It is too early to conclude whether this was a case of suicide or murder. We are waiting for forensic reports,” SSP Baloch said.

According to police, Hussain’s family hails from Sanghar, though his parents and other relatives are currently based in the United States. He had recently traveled from Karachi to Sanghar, but the purpose of his visit remains unclear, the SSP added.

Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah has taken notice of the incident and directed the provincial police chief to submit a detailed report. He also ordered that the investigation be handed over to a senior and experienced officer.

Director News and Current Affairs at DawnNews said the channel would wait for the police investigation to conclude before making any formal statement.

On his Facebook profile, Hussain had shared his life motto in Urdu:
“زندہ رہنا ہے تو حالات سے ڈرنا کیسا، جنگ لازم ہو تو لشکر نہیں دیکھے جاتے!”
(If one must live, why fear circumstances? When war is inevitable, armies are not counted.)

An unbelievable and heartbreaking tragedy — DawnNews reporter Khawar Hussain, a cheerful, lively, and vibrant young man, has left this world most tragically. His body was found in his car, with a pistol in his hand.

Although it is being declared as suicide, the heart refuses to believe it. This does not appear to be just a case of suicide — a transparent and impartial investigation is essential.

We witnessed with our own eyes this young man’s journey of growth and success — from Sanghar to Karachi, from Apna TV to DawnNews. Khawar Hussain was a kind-hearted, graceful, eloquent, and life-loving young man.

May Allah grant patience and strength to the bereaved parents, wife, family, and innocent children of the late Khawar Hussain. This tragedy has filled all our hearts with grief and restlessness.
