Dubai Appellate Court upheld the ruling of the Court of First Instance jailing a European woman for 10 years, to be followed by deportation after serving her sentence, and fining her Dhs100,000 on charges of possessing various narcotic substances and consuming cocaine.
The details of the case date back to August 2023, when information was received by the General Department of Anti Narcotics at Dubai police alerting that an Asian man (referred to the Federal Court) was abusing and promoting drugs at his residence in a hotel in Jumeirah area.
A policeman reported that an investigation team raided the place where the suspect was arrested in a trap and the team found narcotic substances in his possession and inside his residence.
The policeman added during interrogations that he saw a woman in an abnormal condition in the company of the suspect whom he suspected to be under the influence of narcotics or psychotropic substances, so she was arrested and then she took out 4 transparent plastic bags containing a dark-coloured substance, weighing 40 grammes, which turned out to be hashish.
She confessed that she owned it with the intention of usage.
The policeman added that she was taken to the General Department of Anti Narcotics at Dubai police, and by examining her urine sample, it was proved that she had abused hashish and cocaine.
On being questioned, she confessed that she possessed various narcotic substances and consumed cocaine before her arrest. She also confessed that she obtained the narcotic substances from the suspect for free.
