Bollywood star clarifies that the joke was blown out of proportion

Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has expressed deep regret over past comments he made about Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and wishes to apologise to the actress.

In a recent interview, Emraan admitted that in the current age of social media, even jokes are blown out of proportion and can harm someone’s reputation. He recalled an incident from a comedy segment on a TV show where he jokingly referred to Aishwarya Rai as “plastic”, clarifying that it was meant to be in jest, but it was taken seriously by the audience.

Reflecting on the incident, Emraan said he feels genuinely sorry for his words, acknowledging that such comments can be hurtful. “It is unpleasant for anyone to hear such words about themselves,” he stated.

Emraan emphasised that sensitivity has increased over time and that if his joke had offended Aishwarya, he would like to meet her and apologise personally. He expressed his wish to convey his regret and apologize for any hurt his words may have caused.

Moreover, Emraan shared that he has been a fan of Aishwarya Rai since watching her film “Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam.” He recounted waiting for nearly three hours outside her van just to catch a glimpse of her, underscoring his admiration for the actress.
