Former Chief Minister of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P), Pervez Khattak, has decided to join Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F). He is expected to officially announce his decision on February 22, 2025.

Khattak, who was once a senior leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), left the party in June 2023 following the events of May 9. After distancing himself from PTI, he explored different political options before making the decision to join JUI-F.

Recently, he met with JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman to finalize the details of his move. Both leaders reportedly discussed the political landscape and how Khattak’s inclusion could strengthen JUI-F in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa.

Pervez Khattak played an important role in PTI for many years. He served as the Chief Minister of K-P from 2013 to 2018 and was known for implementing key reforms in the province. However, after parting ways with PTI, he formed his own political group but struggled to gain significant influence. His decision to join JUI-F marks a major shift in his political career.

The official announcement will take place in Nowshera, his hometown, where he is expected to address his supporters alongside Maulana Fazlur Rehman. Political analysts believe that Khattak’s move will impact the political dynamics of K-P, as he still holds influence in the region.

With this decision, JUI-F aims to strengthen its position in K-P ahead of upcoming political developments, while Khattak looks to continue his political journey with a new party.
