Extremely High Flood Alert Issued for Next 36 hrs as India Opens All Channels of Salal Dam

A very serious flood alert has been issued for Punjab for the next 36 hours after reports that India has released water by opening all channels of the Salal Dam.

This sudden move is expected to send a massive volume of water toward Pakistan, increasing the threat of major flooding in different parts of Punjab.

Authorities in Pakistan have expressed concern that the water release, combined with ongoing heavy rains, could cause severe damage.

The potential flooding is expected to put villages, farmland, and important infrastructure at high risk. Crops in low-lying areas may be destroyed, while communication routes such as roads and bridges could also be affected.

To deal with the situation, emergency teams have been placed on high alert. Rescue and relief services are already being prepared, and evacuation plans have been made for districts that are most likely to be hit.

Officials have strongly advised people living near rivers, canals, and flood-prone zones to stay alert, follow safety guidelines, and cooperate fully with local authorities.

Citizens are also being urged not to ignore warnings and to keep essential supplies ready in case relocation becomes necessary. Relief camps are being set up in safer zones to provide shelter to displaced families.

The situation remains highly critical as both natural rainfall and the sudden dam water release are expected to increase water levels dangerously.

Authorities continue to monitor the flow closely and have promised timely updates. The next 36 hours will be crucial in determining how severe the impact of this flood emergency will be for Punjab.
