QUETTA: A resident of Quetta, Alishba Sumalani, has appealed to the authorities for the safe recovery of her brother, Hasnain Ahmed Sumalani, whose whereabouts have remained unknown for the past 12 days.
She said her brother has neither been produced before any court nor has the family been provided with any information about his location, leaving them in severe mental distress.
She expressed these views during a press conference held on Saturday at the camp set up by Voice for Baloch Missing Persons, alongside the organisation’s chairman, Nasrullah Baloch, and Hooran Baloch.
Alishba Sumalani alleged that on the night of February 3, ‘personnel of security forces and law enforcement agencies’ raided their home in the Asghar Abad, Sariab Customs area, without presenting a search warrant. After conducting a thorough search, they took away her 16-year-old younger brother, Hasnain Ahmed, son of Babul Jan Sumalani, a student, on the pretext of interrogation.
She added that despite repeatedly contacting the administration, the family has received no information about his whereabouts.
Even after 12 days, Hasnain Ahmed has not been produced before any court, nor has the family been informed about his condition, she added.
She urged the authorities to take notice of her brother’s disappearance and play their role in ensuring his safe recovery so that the family may be relieved of their ongoing mental anguish.
