First Time Ever! Pakistan Knocked Out From Group Stage of T20 World Cup

Pakistan’s national cricket team faced a significant setback in the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 as they were eliminated from the tournament’s group stage for the first time ever. The decisive moment came after the United States’ match against Ireland was interrupted by rain in Lauderhill, Florida.

The outcome of the rain-affected match meant that both the USA and Ireland gained one point each. This result sealed the fate of Pakistan’s team, led by Babar Azam, who will not progress to the next stage of the competition.

The interruption due to rain allowed the USA to secure a spot in the Super 8s of the tournament for the very first time in their history.

This marks a significant disappointment for Pakistan, as it is their inaugural exit from the group stage of a T20 World Cup since 2016 and only the third time overall.

Pakistan’s journey in this tournament began on a disappointing note with a surprising loss to the USA on June 5 in New York. They faced another setback on June 9 when they narrowly lost to India by six runs, marking two consecutive defeats in the T20 World Cup 2024.

Despite a victory against Canada in their third match, Pakistan’s hopes of advancing to the next round depended on Ireland defeating the USA. The USA had secured two victories in their previous three games and held the second spot in Group A.

Pakistan’s final group-stage fixture is scheduled against Ireland on June 16. However, this match will now serve as a formality as they have already been eliminated from further contention in the tournament.

The unexpected early exit from the T20 World Cup 2024 has sparked discussions and disappointment among Pakistani cricket fans and analysts alike, reflecting on what went wrong for the team in this highly anticipated event.
