Rajinder Mahigwar, the first Hindu officer in Pakistan’s Police Service, has officially started his role as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in the Gulberg Circle of Faisalabad.
Hailing from Badin, a less-developed district in Sindh, Rajinder achieved this milestone by passing the Civil Services Examination (CSS). He expressed happiness about fulfilling his dream of serving the public, saying, “In the police, we can work directly on the ground for the community, which isn’t possible in most other departments.”
Punjab police officials have welcomed Rajinder’s appointment, noting that his presence will help maintain law and order while addressing challenges faced by minorities. They believe he will play an important role in building trust and promoting inclusivity within the police force.
This marks a significant step toward greater representation of minorities in public service and highlights the potential for positive change in Pakistan’s law enforcement system.
