New Zealand’s former captain Kane Williamson has announced his retirement from T20 international cricket, bringing an end to a remarkable 14-year journey in the shortest format of the game.

The 35-year-old cricketer made his T20I debut in 2011 and went on to play 93 matches, scoring 2,575 runs with an average of over 33. Known for his calm temperament and elegant batting, Williamson guided New Zealand to several historic victories, including leading the team to the 2021 T20 World Cup final, where they finished as runners-up.

In a heartfelt message, Williamson thanked his teammates, coaches, and fans for their unwavering support throughout his career. He said that while T20 cricket had given him unforgettable memories, it was now time to focus on Test cricket, where he continues to play a key role for the Black Caps.

Williamson confirmed that he will still represent New Zealand in Test matches and is preparing for the upcoming series against the West Indies in December.

Cricket experts and fans around the world praised his contribution to the sport, describing him as one of the most respected and consistent players of his generation. His calm leadership, humility, and dedication have set a strong example for young cricketers.

Kane Williamson’s retirement from T20Is marks the end of an era for New Zealand cricket, but his legacy as a true gentleman of the game will continue to inspire players for years to come.
