The Gilgit-Baltistan (GB) government has introduced new entry fees for vehicles and motorcycles as part of its efforts to regulate tourism and generate funds for sustainable development.

According to a recent notification, tourist vehicles entering GB will now be charged Rs. 2,000, while motorcycles will pay Rs. 500. This decision is aimed at managing the growing number of visitors to the region, which is famous for its breathtaking landscapes and high-altitude attractions.

The funds collected will be used to maintain infrastructure, manage waste, and preserve the natural beauty of the area. In addition to the vehicle fees, the government has also revised charges for mountaineering and trekking permits to take advantage of the increasing interest in GB’s peaks and hiking trails.

While these new charges might slightly increase travel costs for tourists, they reflect the government’s commitment to promoting sustainable tourism and ensuring effective resource management.

By implementing these measures, the GB administration hopes to strike a balance between boosting tourism and protecting the environment for future generations. Visitors are encouraged to view these changes as a step toward maintaining the region’s charm and supporting its development.
