The federal government of Pakistan has approved a major relief package for its employees by increasing the house rent ceiling by 85%. The decision, endorsed by the federal cabinet through circulation, will benefit all government workers from Grade 1 to Grade 22, providing significant financial support amid rising living costs.

According to official sources, the Ministry of Housing and Works had proposed this revision after a long-standing demand from employees who have been struggling with high housing expenses. The cabinet’s approval has now turned this long-awaited request into reality.

The move is expected to place an estimated Rs. 12 billion burden on the national treasury, but it aims to bring much-needed relief to thousands of government workers facing inflationary pressures.

Officials stated that the increase will help employees manage their accommodation costs more comfortably, especially in major cities where rent prices have sharply increased. The adjustment reflects the government’s efforts to support its workforce and improve their quality of life.

The house rent ceiling had not been revised for several years, making this decision a welcome development for federal employees across Pakistan.

With this step, the government hopes to not only reduce financial strain but also acknowledge the valuable contribution of public servants who play a vital role in national administration.

This decision marks a positive step toward employee welfare and economic stability, signaling that the government remains committed to easing financial challenges for its workforce.
