Good News for Single Mothers! Pakistan to Include Mother’s Name in All New Passports

The Passport Department of Pakistan has announced an important update for all new passports. From now on, every new passport issued will include both the mother’s name and the father’s name.

This decision has been made to match international standards and to make legal and official paperwork easier for Pakistani citizens, especially when they travel abroad.

Mustafa Jamal Qazi, who is the Director General of Immigration and Passports, explained that adding both parents’ names will help solve many problems that people face during identification checks in other countries.

Many people have had trouble when only the father’s name was mentioned, so this change will help avoid confusion and make it easier for Pakistanis to prove their identity in foreign countries.

People who already have passports do not need to worry or rush to renew them. The new rule will not affect current passports until they expire or need to be renewed. Whenever someone applies for a new passport or gets a renewal in the future, the new format with both parents’ names will be used.

Many citizens and experts have welcomed this decision, saying it is a positive step that supports equality and keeps up with global practices. This update is also helpful for women and children, as it recognizes the role of both parents in official documents.

The Passport Department has asked everyone to follow the new guidelines and keep their family details updated when they apply for a passport next time. This move will make the process smoother for everyone in the long run.
