Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved the setup of a Google Chromebook manufacturing plant in Punjab,a major step toward advancing technology-based education and improving the province’s IT infrastructure.

The decision came during a meeting between the Chief Minister and representatives from Google for Education and Tech Valley, where discussions focused on introducing innovative digital tools in classrooms.

The delegation showcased several AI-powered platforms such as AI Gemini, Read Along, and Canva integration, designed to make learning more creative and interactive for students.

As part of the province’s digital education initiative, more than 2,000 teachers have already been trained in digital literacy, enabling them to incorporate technology into their teaching methods.

The program aims to expand further, ensuring that both urban and rural schools benefit from modern learning solutions.

Maryam Nawaz emphasized that technology and education must go hand in hand, calling it essential for preparing students for a rapidly evolving digital future.

She reaffirmed her government’s commitment to transforming Punjab into an AI and innovation hub, saying that the province will continue to invest in initiatives that empower young people with future-ready skills.

The establishment of the Chromebook manufacturing factory is expected not only to create new job opportunities but also to promote local production and affordability of digital devices for schools across Punjab.

With strong government support and global partnerships, the initiative marks a significant milestone in shaping a more tech-driven and educated Punjab.
