Govt cuts petrol by Rs10.28, diesel by Rs8.57 per litre for next fortnight

The federal government on Wednesday reduced the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) for the next fortnight, effective from January 1, 2026.

According to a notification issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the price of petrol has been slashed by Rs10.28 per litre to Rs253.17, while high-speed diesel has been reduced by Rs8.57 per litre to Rs257.08.

The prices were revised on the recommendations of the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), the notification said.

Previously, petrol was priced at Rs263.45 per litre, whereas high-speed diesel was selling at Rs265.65 per litre.

Petroleum product prices are reviewed on a fortnightly basis, keeping in view global oil prices and exchange rate movements.
