Govt increases diesel price by Rs6 per litre, keeps petrol rate unchanged

The federal government on Saturday kept the petrol price unchanged while increased the rate of high speed diesel (HSD) by Rs6 per litre for the next fortnight.

According to a notification issued by the Finance Division, the new price of HSD stands at Rs284.44 per litre, while the rate of petrol will remain same at Rs265.45 per litre, following recommendations from the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA).

media had earlier reported that petrol might become cheaper by Rs1.96 per litre and HSD could rise by Rs9.60 per litre.

During the last fortnightly review, the government raised the petrol price by Rs2.43, bringing the rate to Rs265.45 per litre. Similarly, the price of HSD was increased by Rs3.02 per litre, then priced at Rs278.44 per litre.
