Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has announced strong government support for the growing solar energy trend in Pakistan, calling it the most affordable electricity source in the world. While speaking at the launch of the new mobile app “Apna Meter, Apni Reading,” he described it as a big step toward empowering electricity consumers and ensuring more transparency in the billing system.

The app will allow users to check and manage their electricity usage. It will be available in five languages to promote better understanding across all provinces and strengthen national unity. The Prime Minister also shared that the PTV fee will be removed from electricity bills, easing some of the burden on consumers.

Shehbaz Sharif praised the Ministry of Energy for its recent reforms, including transparent hiring in DISCOs (Distribution Companies) and taking action against corruption. He said these changes are important for improving the energy sector.

He also highlighted efforts to make electricity more affordable. After tough talks with Independent Power Producers (IPPs), the cost per unit of electricity for households has been reduced to Rs7.41. This reduction, he explained, is part of a larger plan to create a fair and sustainable power system.

The Prime Minister stressed that these reforms are not just short-term fixes, but long-term changes aimed at solving Pakistan’s energy problems. He encouraged people to use the app and support clean energy sources like solar power for a better and more self-reliant future.

Translation: The Council of Pakistan Newspaper Editors (CPNE) has strongly condemned the suspension of advertisements for media TV and media Radio, following the earlier suspension for media Media Group’s newspapers. CPNE stated that media is among Pakistan’s most reputable media outlets, and imposing a ban on government advertisements is tantamount to economically weakening it.In this regard, the CPNE President and Secretary General said in a joint statement that media Media Group has provided impartial reporting in Pakistan since its inception. Initially, its newspapers were subjected to a ban on advertisements, and now the government has also deprived media Media Group’s electronic platforms of government advertisements. They demanded that the government immediately lift the ban on media Media Group’s advertisements.
