The government has announced that the auction for the privatisation of PIA will be broadcast live on television on December 23.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has promised that the entire process will be carried out with full transparency, fairness, and merit so that the public can see that every step is handled properly.
Speaking to business leaders, the prime minister said that the government’s reforms are moving ahead smoothly. He added that these changes are aimed at improving PIA’s image, strengthening its operations, and upgrading its aircraft.
He also shared that the live auction will allow people across the country to watch how the bidding unfolds, giving them complete confidence in the process.
According to government officials, this will be one of Pakistan’s most important privatisation efforts in almost twenty years. They say the live broadcast is meant to show that nothing is hidden and that all decisions are made openly.
Investors from Pakistan and abroad have appreciated this professional and transparent approach, saying it gives them confidence to take part in the bidding.
The government believes that privatising PIA will help turn the national airline around after many years of financial losses, mismanagement, and operational challenges. By bringing in private investors, officials hope PIA will get the resources and expertise needed to become a modern, efficient, and competitive airline again.
As the date approaches, both citizens and investors are watching closely. The upcoming auction is seen not only as a major step for PIA but also as a test of the government’s commitment to open and accountable economic reforms.
