Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah announced financial assistance for the families of those who lost their lives in the Gul Plaza fire in Karachi. He said that each family of the deceased will receive Rs. 10 million as compensation from the provincial government.
Expressing sorrow over the tragic incident, the chief minister assured that the government stands with the affected families during this difficult time.
The chief minister also shared plans to rebuild the damaged multi-storey building after the rescue and investigation processes are completed.
He said the structure will be reconstructed in a safe and planned manner, following proper safety standards. The aim is not only to restore the building but also to ensure that such an incident does not happen again.
To support traders who suffered heavy losses, CM Murad Ali Shah announced that a special committee will be formed.
This committee will review the situation and advise the government on how to provide shops to affected traders so that their businesses can restart as soon as possible. He said helping shop owners return to work is important for protecting jobs and livelihoods.
The chief minister emphasized the urgent need to improve fire safety arrangements across Karachi and other cities.
He stressed better emergency access in commercial buildings, regular safety inspections, and proper firefighting equipment. He also highlighted the importance of long-term preventive measures to avoid similar tragedies in the future.
CM Murad Ali Shah said lessons must be learned from the Gul Plaza fire. He directed authorities to take concrete steps to strengthen safety systems, improve coordination among emergency services, and protect both lives and businesses going forward.
