After the massive fire at Gul Plaza on MA Jinnah Road in Karachi, parts of the building collapsed, making the situation even more dangerous.

Officials confirmed that two sections of the plaza gave way after the fire weakened the structure. The collapse raised serious safety concerns for rescue teams and firefighters working inside and around the building.

The fire burned for many hours, spreading across several floors and causing heavy damage. Due to the intense heat, the walls, ceilings, and support columns became unstable.

As a result, authorities restricted access to certain areas to prevent further accidents. Engineers were called in to assess the building’s condition and guide rescue efforts.

Despite the risks, firefighting and rescue operations continued. Teams from the Karachi Fire Brigade, Rescue 1122, and other emergency services remained at the site.

High-reach equipment, water tankers, and foam were used to control remaining flames and cool down hot spots. Rescuers worked carefully to search for anyone who might still be trapped under debris or inside damaged sections.

Officials said their top priority was ensuring the safety of rescue workers while completing search operations. Nearby roads were closed, and people were advised to stay away from the area due to the danger of further collapse. Surrounding buildings were also inspected as a precaution.

Authorities stated that once the fire is fully controlled and the area is declared safe, a detailed investigation will begin.

The probe will look into the cause of the fire, the condition of the building, and whether safety rules were followed. Meanwhile, affected shop owners and workers continue to wait for updates as operations at Gul Plaza remain ongoing.
