Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has shared details of a short but friendly interaction with former US President Donald Trump during the World Economic Forum in Davos.

The exchange took place during an official ceremony and was broadcast globally, drawing attention from international audiences.

According to the prime minister, Donald Trump greeted him warmly and asked, “How is my favourite Field Marshal?” The remark was a reference to Pakistan Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, who was present among the guests at the event. As Trump made the comment, both leaders exchanged gestures, and the moment was captured on camera.

Prime Minister Shehbaz described the interaction as cordial and positive, reflecting mutual respect between the two leaders. He said the brief exchange highlighted ongoing international engagement and Pakistan’s presence at major global forums.

During his remarks, the prime minister also praised Donald Trump’s initiative to establish a Board of Peace for Gaza.

He said that if the initiative succeeds, especially in bringing peace and supporting reconstruction efforts, it could become a historic achievement and a lasting legacy for Trump. He emphasized that peace and stability in the region are urgently needed and welcomed any sincere efforts toward that goal.

Shehbaz Sharif further commended Trump’s past role in helping ease tensions between Pakistan and India. He described Trump’s intervention during the crisis as timely and critical, stating that it helped prevent further escalation and potentially saved lives on both sides.

The prime minister said such diplomatic engagement and dialogue are essential for regional and global stability. He added that Pakistan remains committed to peace, cooperation, and constructive international relations, and values efforts that promote dialogue over conflict on the global stage.
