How the key interest rate has moved since July 2022

The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Monday reduced the key policy rate by 200 basis points to take it down to 13% for a fifth successive cut since June 2024.

Here is a look at how the key interest rate has moved since July 2022, touching a peak of 22% – a record high in Pakistan’s history – to the current level of 13%:
