Around 350 Afghan students have arrived in Pakistan as part of the Allama Muhammad Iqbal Scholarships Programme, a major effort launched by HEC under the Prime Minister’s instructions.
These students will study at some of the top universities in Pakistan. Before starting their regular classes in the fall semester, they will take a preparatory course to help them adjust and get ready for their academic journey. In addition to this group, another 150 Afghan students those pursuing Master’s and PhD degrees are expected to join in September 2025.
To welcome the new arrivals, a special reception was held at the HEC Regional Centre in Peshawar. The event was organized to make the students feel at home and introduce them to their new academic environment.
This scholarship programme shows the strong educational bond between Pakistan and Afghanistan. It also reflects the spirit of friendship and cooperation between the two neighbouring countries. By offering these scholarships, Pakistan is supporting Afghan youth in building brighter futures while also strengthening ties through education and mutual understanding.
