India Blocks Twitter(X) Accounts of Imran Khan and Bilawal Bhutto

India has blocked access to the official X (formerly Twitter) account of the Government of Pakistan. When users in India try to open the account, they now see a message saying that the account has been withheld.

This step seems to be part of India’s ongoing efforts to control online content, especially when it involves sensitive political or national matters. So far, neither the Indian nor the Pakistani government has made any official statement about this action.

This is not the first time such restrictions have been put in place. In the past, India also blocked other Pakistani X accounts, including those of Pakistani embassies and diplomatic missions.

India has a history of limiting access to online content that it considers harmful, misleading, or against national interest. The move to block the Pakistani government’s account likely comes from similar concerns, though the exact reason has not been made public.

Social media platforms like X often follow local laws in each country they operate in. When a government asks for certain content or accounts to be limited, the platform may act accordingly. In this case, the platform has confirmed that the account has been withheld in India, but it can still be seen in other countries.

This action highlights the growing role of social media in global politics. It also shows how digital platforms are being used by governments not just for communication, but also as tools in managing international relations and public messaging.

For now, people in India will not be able to access the official updates or posts from the Pakistani government through X. It remains to be seen whether this restriction will be lifted or if more such actions will follow in the future.
