A prostitution racket within the film industry has been uncovered by Unit 11 of the Mumbai Crime Branch, resulting in the arrest of 30-year-old Aarti Mittal, a casting director and actress allegedly involved in the operation.

According to reports, Aarti targeted models during various projects and offered them work for good money, with two models having been rescued from the site of the operation. When posing as a customer, a police officer caught Aarti red-handed, with the actress demanding Rs. 60,000 to provide two prostitutes for his friends.

Aarti had also reportedly posted on social media that she was working on a project with actor R Madhavan. In addition to working in television shows, including ‘Apnapan,’ Aarti has been implicated in managing the sex racket.  The show also stars Rajshree Thakur.

As of now, the case has been registered against Aarti Mittal under Section 370 and other relevant sections of trafficking and prostitution under the Indian Penal Code.

The Mumbai Crime Branch has been cracking down on prostitution rackets in the city, and Aarti’s arrest is the latest development in their efforts. While the exploitation of models and actors in the film industry is not a new phenomenon, it is concerning that someone within the industry was allegedly involved in running such a racket.

The fact that two models were rescued during the operation highlights the importance of efforts to combat human trafficking and protect vulnerable individuals from exploitation. It is important that law enforcement agencies continue to investigate such cases and hold those responsible accountable for their actions.

The rescued girls claimed that Mittal had lured them with a promise to pay Rs 15,000 for their “assignments”, and assured them of high income to indulge in the sex trade with her. They have been sent to a rehab centre pending further investigations.
