Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has expressed serious concerns about India’s recent comments on the Indus Waters Treaty. He believes these statements are a way for India to put pressure on Pakistan, especially after facing military setbacks.

The Indus Waters Treaty, signed in 1960, is a key agreement between Pakistan and India that manages the use of rivers flowing between the two countries. It has helped maintain peace over water-sharing issues for many years. However, recent statements from Indian officials have raised worries in Pakistan about the future of this important treaty.

PM Shehbaz said that India’s threats should not be taken lightly. He added that such actions are not only against international agreements but also harmful to regional peace. He believes that bringing water issues into political disputes is unfair and dangerous.

The Prime Minister stressed that Pakistan will not accept any changes to the treaty that hurt the country’s rights. He said Pakistan is ready to respond firmly through diplomatic and legal channels if needed.

Experts in Pakistan see India’s move as a political strategy to create pressure in response to challenges faced by its military. They urge international organizations to take notice and ensure that India sticks to its promises under the treaty.

PM Shehbaz Sharif called for responsible behavior and peaceful dialogue to solve all matters. He said that water is a shared resource and must not be used as a weapon in politics. He urged India to act wisely and respect international commitments.
