India Loses Hosting Rights for Women’s Blind Cricket World Cup

The World Blind Cricket Council has withdrawn India’s hosting rights for the Women’s Blind Cricket World Cup. This decision came after India’s team refused to travel to Pakistan for the ongoing Blind T20 World Cup.

India did not allow its team to visit Pakistan, citing the lack of a No Objection Certificate (NOC). This issue was discussed during the 26th World Blind Cricket Council meeting in Multan, attended by representatives from seven countries. While India, England, and New Zealand participated online, the refusal sparked a heated debate about India’s absence.

As a result, the Council decided that future cricket matches between Pakistan and India will take place at neutral venues due to the continuing political tensions between the two countries. This ensures that games are unaffected by travel restrictions or diplomatic disputes.

The decision highlights the challenges sports bodies face when politics interfere with international events. By shifting to neutral grounds, the Council aims to maintain fair competition and promote the spirit of the game, despite strained relations between the neighboring nations.
