Indian Firms Reportedly See Drop in Bookings from Turkiye, Azerbaijan Over Pakistan Support
Share on FacebookShare on TwitterWhatsapp

A growing number of Indian tourists are cancelling their trips to Turkiye and Azerbaijan after both countries showed support for Pakistan during a recent conflict. This political development has directly impacted travel plans, as many Indians are now avoiding these destinations.

Rikant Pittie, CEO of travel company EaseMyTrip, shared that cancellations for Turkiye have gone up by 22%, while Azerbaijan has seen a 30% increase in cancelled bookings. Many travelers are now looking for other countries to visit instead. Popular alternatives include Georgia, Serbia, Greece, Thailand, and Vietnam — places that offer similar travel experiences without political concerns.

The main reason behind the cancellations is the diplomatic support shown by Turkiye and Azerbaijan towards Pakistan, which upset many Indian tourists. This has led to a strong reaction from travelers who are now rethinking their holiday plans.

In response to the situation, the travel platform ixigo has also taken action. It has temporarily stopped all bookings to Turkiye, Azerbaijan, and China. This move reflects the company’s effort to align with customer sentiment and growing national concerns.

Tourism experts say that such political events can have a big impact on travel trends, especially when emotions are high. People often choose destinations based not only on beauty or cost, but also on how they feel about the country’s political actions.

This change in travel behavior shows how international relations can directly affect tourism. For now, Indian travelers seem to be choosing destinations that feel more neutral and politically comfortable.
