Indonesia has decided to purchase 100,000 metric tons of water buffalo meat from Pakistan in 2025, marking a shift in its meat import strategy. Previously, Indonesia relied on India for this supply, but it has now chosen Pakistan due to better pricing.

The Indonesian government plans to import a total of 180,000 metric tons of beef and 100,000 metric tons of water buffalo meat next year. This move is aimed at ensuring a steady supply of affordable meat, especially during high-demand periods like Ramazan and Eid.

Pakistan has already established itself as a meat exporter to Indonesia. In 2021, it supplied 80,000 metric tons of water buffalo meat, meeting Indonesia’s needs during peak festive seasons. With the latest agreement, Pakistan’s meat exports are set to expand further.

This partnership benefits both nations. For Indonesia, it provides an economical and reliable meat source, helping stabilize prices in local markets. For Pakistan, it opens new opportunities in the global meat trade, boosting its livestock industry and creating jobs.

Pakistan’s growing role in international meat exports highlights its ability to compete with major suppliers. By offering competitive prices and maintaining quality standards, the country is strengthening its trade relationships and expanding its footprint in global markets.
