PTA clarified on Tuesday that VPNs are not being blocked in Pakistan, putting to rest recent rumors. Despite concerns, the PTA assured that VPN usage remains unaffected in the country.

IT Minister Shaza Fatima Khawaja also addressed the public, stating that the internet has neither been shut down nor slowed by the government. In fact, according to technical reports, using VPNs can sometimes improve internet speed by bypassing any throttling measures in place.

VPNs have become essential for many internet users in 2024, especially since platforms like X (formerly known as Twitter) were blocked on February 19. VPNs not only help access restricted websites but also provide added privacy and security while browsing the internet.

The PTA further reminded users that while VPNs are allowed, they should register their IP addresses to avoid any service interruptions. The registration process is simple, free, and typically takes 2-3 days. This step ensures uninterrupted access to VPN services while adhering to national regulations.

The PTA’s statement aims to reassure the public that VPNs remain a safe and legal tool, especially during times when accessing certain content is restricted.
