Islamabad–Lahore Motorway Reopens for All Traffic After Days-Long Closure

The Islamabad–Lahore (M-2) Motorway has finally reopened for all kinds of traffic after being closed for several days due to a rally organized by a religious political group.

According to the National Highway and Motorway Police (NHMP), traffic is now moving smoothly, and normal travel has resumed across the route. Commuters who had been facing delays and diversions can once again travel without restrictions.

The motorway had been closed earlier in the week as a precautionary safety measure amid rising public and security concerns during the rally. Authorities worked to ensure that the route was cleared and safe for vehicles before reopening.

NHMP has urged citizens to stay informed through official updates before planning long-distance journeys, especially when large public gatherings are expected. Travelers are also encouraged to follow road safety rules and traffic advisories to avoid inconvenience.

The reopening of the M-2 brings much-needed relief to passengers and transporters, restoring a vital travel link between the federal capital and Punjab’s major cities.
