Sri Lankan shares extended their rally to a ninth straight session on Tuesday, boosted by gains in information technology and communication services stocks.
The CSE All-Share index settled 1.21% higher at 23,292.91 points.
IT sub-index stocks rose 4.48%, communication services stocks advanced 3.38%.
Asia Siyaka Commodities and Cargo Boat Development Company were the top two percentage gainers on the index, up about 24% and 18%, respectively, on the day.
Trading volume on the index rose to 154.7 million shares from 130.6 million shares in the previous session.
The equity market’s turnover rose to 6.59 billion Sri Lankan rupees ($21.3 million) from 5.77 billion rupees in the previous session, according to exchange data.
Foreign investors were net sellers, offloading stocks worth 133.5 million rupees, while domestic investors were net buyers, purchasing shares worth 6.47 billion rupees, the data showed.
