Javeria Saud shuts down critic questioning Sarfaraz Ahmed’s English speaking skills

Everyone gets nervous in front of the camera and sometimes forgets their words: Sarfaraz Ahmed

During a recent episode of Express TV’s Piyara Ramadan, host Javeria Saud delivered a strong response to a caller who questioned former Pakistan cricket captain Sarfaraz Ahmed’s English-speaking skills.

The question was raised by a caller from Karachi, who asked Ahmed why he seemed to get nervous when speaking in English. “I’ve seen several of your interviews where you seem uncomfortable speaking English,” the caller remarked.

Ahmed, laughing off the comment, responded by saying, “Everyone gets nervous in front of the camera and sometimes forgets their words. We play cricket, and we’re used to speaking in our native language, so speaking in another language can be difficult.”

The host swiftly chimed in with her own perspective, saying, “Since we are Pakistanis, and I too get nervous, our national and mother tongue is Urdu. We should learn to speak Urdu properly before worrying about speaking English, as we often make mistakes in Urdu itself.”

She added, “Speaking English is not a matter of pride. If you go to Spain, Paris, Italy, China, Japan, or Turkey, people often get annoyed with those speaking English and insist on communicating in their language.”

Javeria emphasised the importance of being proud of one’s own culture and language, stating, “The problem is that we try to imitate others and forget our own way.” She concluded by dismissing the question as trivial, saying, “Instead of focusing on such nonsense, we should focus on supporting our heroes and encouraging them further.”
