Jos Buttler Resigns as England Captain after Poor Champions Trophy’s Performance

Jos Buttler has decided to step down as England’s white-ball captain following the team’s early exit from the Champions Trophy. His final game as captain will be against South Africa in Karachi.

England’s recent performances have been disappointing, with losses to Australia and Afghanistan adding to their struggles after a tough tour of India.

Buttler said that resigning was the best decision for both himself and the team. He believes a change in leadership could help England move forward. Vice-captain Harry Brook is seen as a strong candidate to take over the role.

Although he is leaving the captaincy, Buttler will continue playing for England. He hopes that stepping down will allow him to enjoy cricket again without the added pressure of leadership.

Buttler became England’s white-ball captain in 2022, taking over from Eoin Morgan. Under his leadership, England won the T20 World Cup, but their performance in the last three ICC events has been disappointing. Despite this, he remains proud of his time as captain and is looking forward to a new chapter in his career.
