Karachi Issues Fines Worth Rs. 570 Million For Seat Belt Violation

Karachi’s traffic authorities have revealed that fines worth Rs. 570 million have been issued for seat belt viol@tions alone. This huge amount shows how common it is for drivers to ignore basic safety rules on the city’s roads.

The e-challan system, which uses Safe City cameras placed across Karachi, has recorded more than 93,000 traffic offences since it started. These cameras automatically capture all kinds of viol@tions, including riding without a helmet, breaking red lights, speeding, using tinted windows, and driving on the wrong side of the road.

Among all these offences, not wearing a seat belt remains the most frequent one. Traffic officials say this is worrying because seat belts are one of the simplest and most effective ways to reduce injuries during accidents. Despite repeated warnings, many drivers and passengers still choose to ignore this basic safety rule.

Authorities have made it clear that automated monitoring will continue at all major roads and intersections in Karachi. The system is designed to identify violators instantly, issue fines digitally, and ensure that traffic rules are followed without discrimination.

Officials also urged the public to take traffic rules seriously not just to avoid fines, but for their own safety and the safety of others on the road. They stressed that using seat belts, following signals, wearing helmets, and avoiding speeding can help reduce accidents and save lives.

The message from Karachi’s traffic authorities is simple: follow the rules, stay safe, and avoid unnecessary fines. With technology keeping a close eye, road discipline is now more important than ever.
