K-Electric (KE) will carry out annual maintenance work on 14 of its 74 grid stations during December as part of its scheduled winter transmission network upkeep, the power utility said on Monday.
According to a statement, the activities are part of routine preventive measures aimed at ensuring the reliability and efficiency of high-voltage equipment supplying electricity to major parts of the city.
KE spokesperson Imran Rana said the utility conducts these shutdowns every winter to maintain system health and uninterrupted supply in the long run.
“Out of 74, about 14 grid stations will be undergoing maintenance activities in December. KE will make all possible efforts to provide electricity through alternative means during this period,” he added.

The planned maintenance will be carried out at Clifton, Airport-I and Airport-II, Valika, North Karachi, Surjani, Hospital, Azizabad, Federal A and Federal B, PRL, Gharo, Elander Road and Liaquatabad grids, along with associated high-voltage transmission lines.
The company cautioned that some areas linked with these grids may experience temporary power interruptions.
It stressed that maintenance-related outages should not be confused with loadshedding.
