KP Govt Ready to Pay More Than Rs. 10 Billion for Stake in PIA

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has officially announced its plan to bid for Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). They have proposed an offer that exceeds the current highest bid of Rs10 billion from the Blue World Consortium. This intention was communicated by Hassan Masood Kunwar, the Vice Chairman of the KP Board of Investment and Trade, in a letter to the Federal Minister for Privatisation.

In the letter, the KP government expressed its strong desire to keep PIA under government control instead of selling it to a private company or a foreign investor. They believe that PIA is a vital national asset and are dedicated to preserving its legacy for the benefit of the people. The KP government sees the airline as an important part of the country’s infrastructure and wants to ensure it continues to operate as a state-run entity.

By submitting a bid that is higher than the previous offers, the KP government is aiming to demonstrate its commitment to the public interest and support the airline’s stability and future growth. They are asking federal authorities to take their bid seriously and consider it as a way to maintain PIA within the national framework.

The KP government’s move highlights its focus on protecting national assets and ensuring that PIA remains a part of the country’s identity. This initiative reflects their intention to contribute positively to the airline’s future while keeping it aligned with the needs and interests of the public.
