Federal Minister for Power Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari has directed that energy sector data be made publicly accessible to promote transparency and support informed policymaking.
The Ministry of Energy shared the development in a statement on Friday.
“Federal Minister for the Power Division, Sardar Awais Ahmed Khan Leghari, has has taken a significant step towards promoting transparency and informed policymaking by directing to ensure energy sector data be made accessible to the public, researchers, energy experts, and students,” it read.
“Open access to reliable and accurate data would enable stakeholders to provide constructive and meaningful recommendations for the improvement of the power sector,” the minister emphasised.
He further noted that making data easily available to all would enhance accountability and strengthen public trust in the power sector. “This initiative would help eliminate speculation, misinformation, and news reports based on inaccurate or incomplete figures related to the power sector.”
Last week, Leghari said that electricity tariffs for industries had been reduced by Rs4.04 per unit under a special relief package announced by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
