The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has announced a reduction in the price of Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPG). According to a notification issued on Tuesday, LPG prices have been lowered by Rs4.02 per kilogram, bringing the new price to Rs250.28 per kilogram. These new prices will take effect from January 1, 2025.

Along with the reduction in LPG per kilogram, the cost of a standard domestic cylinder (11.8 kg) has also decreased by Rs47.43, making the new price for the cylinder Rs2,953.

To put this into perspective, in December 2024, the price of LPG was Rs254.3 per kilogram, and the cost of the domestic cylinder was Rs3,079. This price cut comes just before the government is expected to announce an increase in petroleum prices, which is likely to be revealed on the first day of the new year.

The timing of the LPG price cut is seen as a relief for consumers, as it comes ahead of the anticipated rise in petroleum prices.

This reduction in LPG prices could help ease some of the financial pressure on households, particularly those who rely on LPG for cooking and heating. It reflects OGRA’s ongoing efforts to regulate and adjust fuel prices in response to market trends, ultimately benefiting the public.
