M-Tag Now Mandatory For All Motorcycles in Islamabad

The Islamabad administration has announced that M-tag registration will become mandatory for all motorcycles starting from February 20, 2026. This marks the second phase of the capital’s ongoing vehicle tagging drive, which aims to improve vehicle monitoring, compliance, and overall road safety. The new rule applies to all types of motorcycles, including standard bikes, heavy motorcycles, and ride-hailing vehicles, with no exemptions.

Motorcycle owners are required to visit the designated registration points with their vehicle registration documents and national ID cards in order to obtain the M-tag. Once issued, the sticker will be placed in front of the speedometer, ensuring it is clearly visible for authorities. To facilitate the process, 13 issuance points have been set up across Islamabad, where staff will be available to guide applicants and help with the registration process.

This initiative comes after the first phase of the tagging drive, which made M-tags compulsory for cars in the city. The authorities hope that extending the program to motorcycles will further strengthen compliance, make vehicle management more efficient, and contribute to a safer and more organized transport system in the capital. Citizens are encouraged to complete their registration on time to avoid penalties and ensure adherence to the new regulations.
