Mahira Khan compiles her life’s journey in snippets

Actor shares video edit on IG

In a video shared to Instagram on Friday, actor Mahira Khan compiled some moments from her life — from intimate to glamorous — into an edited reel celebrating existence itself.

“Sometimes, I think of how cool it would be if you could see a short film of your life – sort of all in love. Maybe just the highlights, or maybe even a full feature film of your life. I think most of us would end up saying, ‘Oh, my god. We survived and we made it.’ And I hope most of us can believe that we had fun while doing it,” she said in the voiceover.

The reel saw clips from the Sadqay Tumhare actor’s youth, a glimpse into her acting career, red carpet moments, hangouts with loved ones, as well as a frisky walk down the street.

Mahira explained her intent in the caption. “I was bored and I was messing around with this app, so really this is my first attempt at I-don’t-even-know-what. I didn’t think of what I was going to say, and I just said it. I thought a million times to change what I was saying, make it more eloquent and wholesome. It felt like an unfinished thought. But I let it be,” she wrote.

“But, yeah. Not to sound too morbid, I really do wonder if that’s what happens in that moment when we are about to go – a quick recap of your life flashing before you. I hope that when that happens, we’re able to smile at it all.”

Encouraging an optimistic outlook, she added, “Here’s to living, surviving, breaking, and rebuilding. Here’s to savouring every moment of it. Gratitude and patience.”

Mahira concluded the note by clarifying that the reel is, in fact, not a short film of her life. “Lots of important people and events are missing, just saying!” she wrote, telling her followers not to misunderstand her.

The Humsafar actor’s words resonated with her fans, who waxed lyrical over the compilation. “I swear by every good thing in the world that we need more of this. Your voice is genuinely therapeutic,” one user wrote, while another said, “Mahira, we need more of these. Your voice is so soothing and honey to the ears!”

Many took the opportunity to express admiration for the 40-year-old actor’s journey in the industry thus far. A fan wrote, “Your life is no less than a film, queen. A film that we all fell in love with.”
