Al Ain Court of First Instance obligated a person to return Dhs38,131 to another and fined him Dhs4,000, after he phoned the victim claiming he was a policeman and asking him for his bank information and password, then he seized the amount from two bank cards belonging to the victim.
After investigation, the police identified the suspect who was referred to the prosecution and then to the court, where he was convicted according to a criminal ruling of seizing the amount from the plaintiff.
The victim filed a lawsuit in which he requested that the suspect be obligated to pay him Dhs55,000 in compensation for the damages he incurred, besides obligating him to pay the fees and expenses of the lawsuit.
He provided a copy of the criminal ruling, a certificate issued by the Public Prosecution stating that the suspect did not appeal, and a copy of the police investigation.
The court stated that the papers proved that the suspect was convicted of the charge of seizing the aforementioned amount, and that this caused harm to the plaintiff.
Therefore, the court obligated the suspect to return the amount and compensate the victim with Dhs4,000.
