The extreme weather has severely disrupted daily life in the popular hill station and created serious challenges for residents and visitors.
Continuous snowfall has brought traffic to a complete halt, leaving thousands of vehicles stranded on roads and highways leading to Murree.
Many people remain stuck in their cars, facing cold temperatures and limited access to food, fuel, and medical help. The heavy snow has also blocked key roads, making movement difficult for both civilians and emergency services.
In response, authorities have launched a large-scale rescue and clearance operation. Police, rescue teams, traffic wardens, and local administration staff have been deployed to assist stranded people and clear snow-covered roads.
Heavy machinery, including snowplows and loaders, is being used to remove snow and reopen main routes. Officials say efforts are underway to evacuate nearly 5,000 vehicles from affected areas as quickly and safely as possible.
Due to worsening conditions, authorities have banned tourist entry into Murree until the situation improves. The decision was taken to prevent further congestion and reduce risks to human life.
Power supply and internet services have also been disrupted in several areas because of damaged lines and extreme weather conditions, adding to residents’ difficulties.
Officials have strongly advised the public to avoid unnecessary travel, especially towards Murree and nearby hill areas. Weather forecasts indicate that snowfall is expected to continue, which could further complicate rescue and restoration efforts.
