Former England captain Nasser Hussain has spoken in support of Pakistan and Bangladesh amid ongoing uncertainty around the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. He said that politics is increasingly taking priority over cricket, causing divisions in a sport that was once about unity and fair competition.

The situation became more tense after Bangladesh chose not to travel to India due to security concerns. Soon after, Pakistan also refused to play against India, further adding to the controversy. Hussain praised both teams for standing by their decisions, saying it was important for someone to set clear boundaries and bring the focus back to the game rather than off-field issues.

He also raised concerns about the ICC’s approach, questioning whether all countries are treated equally. According to Hussain, smaller or less powerful cricketing nations often face stricter consequences, while others are given more flexibility. He warned that this lack of consistency could damage the balance of international cricket, weaken competition, and reduce the overall spirit of the sport.
