The National Highway Authority (NHA) is planning to introduce a helicopter rescue service to provide fast medical assistance to people injured in accidents on motorways. This service will make sure that help reaches victims quickly, potentially saving lives. It will work alongside the current 1122 emergency helpline, which already responds to such incidents.

The minister in charge has also directed the NHA to focus on both immediate and long-term plans to improve road safety. These plans aim to prevent accidents and reduce the number of injuries on highways.

To ensure transparency and accountability, the NHA is developing a detailed five-year action plan. This plan will focus on improving highways and motorways throughout the country, making them safer and more efficient for travelers.

By launching the helicopter rescue service and implementing safety measures, the NHA hopes to strengthen its emergency response system and improve road safety for everyone.
