Naya KPK? Peshawar Makes Taxi Registration, QR Code Stickers Mandatory

The Peshawar administration has announced new rules for private taxi services in the city to improve traffic management and public safety. All private taxis have now been instructed to register with the Excise Department. In addition, these vehicles must follow an approved colour scheme and display QR code stickers so they can be easily identified and monitored by authorities.

As part of a wider crackdown, officials have taken immediate action against illegal transport operations. More than 100 unregistered services, including illegal rickshaws and speed stations, have been shut down. The move aims to reduce traffic congestion, improve road discipline, and stop unsafe transport services from operating in busy areas of the city.

The administration has also planned several structural changes to ease traffic pressure. Some Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) stations will be relocated to improve road flow, while heavy trucks will be banned from using key city roads before 10:00 pm. Special enforcement teams will be formed to ensure these rules are followed strictly and without delay.

Peshawar Division Commissioner Riaz Khan Mahsud has directed all concerned departments to implement these measures on time and take firm action against anyone violating the new regulations. He said the goal is to provide safer, more organized, and efficient public transport, while also improving overall traffic movement and reducing daily inconvenience for residents across the city.
